About us

FLY BOUTIQUE owner Jean Marie opened her first boutique, Jean Marie Vintage, in November 1995 with much success in South Beach. In November '96 she opened her second, Fly Boutique, on Lincoln Road. Soon the two merged and became Fly Boutique. There was also a Fly Boutique in Chicago's Wicker Park but was closed in '03 due to the birth of her second daughter.

Fly Boutique's environment is very charming, cozy and inviting. The style the owner has created comes in part from her background. Jean Marie worked in NYC for three years with an Italian high end ready-to-wear designer. Her then boyfriend Fabian was the lead in the flamenco rock band Spanish Fly. Hence the fashionable rock-n-roll spirit they created together. Jean Marie's background in fashion has been very important for setting the whole vibe of Fly Boutique. Even though it is mainly a consignment shop, it still has the feeling of a true retail boutique. Most important in the criteria for her search for inventory is quality. Every item is hand picked and carefully inspected. Taken into consideration is it's style, age, condition and how well it is made. Most items are or appear to be unworn and if anything does look worn, it is only chosen then because it is amazing!

Fly Boutique carries both new and vintage designer items such as Pucci, Gucci, Dior and Chanel to name ony a few. Jean Marie also has her own line called Puglia. Since 1996 she has been reconstructing vintage items and creating beautiful dresses, bags, tops, skirts and bikinis. All of these items are recycled from vintage pieces that are no longer desireable or wearable in their present condition. Most pieces turn out to be one of a kind and many of them are designer reconstructed, such as Pucci, Eduardo, Leonard, Missoni etc.

Fly Boutique has always projected to it's clients a new concept in recycled and vintage clothing. It is mainstream with a minimal, sensible, simple and practical yet glamorous style that appeals to all generations.
